Black screen after boot

I bought my new HP laptop last year on November that come with Windows 8, I downloaded and updated to Windows 8.1 successfully, then I installed UxStyle to use 3rd party visual appearance themes, then on next 2 days, I uninstalled the UxStyle and then it
shows a black screen after boot, any ideas? Because I don't like to restore to its original factory condition to start all over again.

Solutions to the Problem Black screen after boot

Hi Filbert,

What is the model of the HP computer?

Follow these methods to troubleshoot the issue with black screen:

Method 1:
Step 1:
I would suggest you to restart the computer in
safe mode to check if it works fine.

Step 2:
If the issue doesn’t occur in Safe mode, you may try to restart the computer in
clean boot mode to check if any third party application is causing the issue, as clean boot helps in eliminating software conflicts.
The steps given in the article are similar
to Windows 8.1 operating system.

Note: After troubleshooting, refer to the section “How to reset the computer to start normally after clean boot troubleshooting” to return the computer to a Normal startup mode.

Method 2:
I would suggest you to run Microsoft Safety Scanner for any spyware or malware infection:
http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: The Microsoft Safety Scanner expires 10 days after being downloaded.
To rerun a scan with the latest anti-malware definitions, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.
Any data files
that are infected may only be cleaned by deleting the file entirely, which means there is a potential for data loss.

Method 3:
I would suggest you to start the computer in low resolution mode and check if it works:
Boot the PC while holding the Shift key.Once the Recovery screen is displayed, click or tap on the See Advanced Repair options button.Next, click or tap on the Troubleshoot button. In the Troubleshoot menu, click or tap on Advanced options. Then select Windows Startup Settings. You will be prompted to restart the PC.  You will see a boot option screen where you can select
Enable low-resolution video (640×480).Check if you still get the black screen.

Method 4:
Try uninstalling the graphic card drivers and re-installing them.
To uninstall drivers, follow these steps:
Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search.
(If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, and then click
Search.)Enter “Device manger” without quotes in the search box.Tap on Device manager.Right-click on the device driver and click Uninstall.Restart the computer and check if the issue persists.

Refer to the link to update the drivers:
Download and install drivers

Don't Download Malware

Where are you getting the download?

There are malicious people who download valid copies of a popular download, modify the file with malicious software, and then upload the file with the same name. Make sure you are downloading from the developer's web page or a reputable company.

Don't install download manager

Many sites suggest or require you to install an installer or a download manager before allowing you to download a program you may be interested in downloading. These tools almost always cause your computer more problems and may even have malware or other spyware. Avoid any site claiming anything must be installed first before you can continue with your download.

Avoid advertisements on download pages

To help make money and pay for the bandwidth costs of supplying free the software, the final download page may have ads. Watch out for anything that looks like advertisements on the download page. Many advertisers try to trick viewers into clicking an ad with phrases like "Download Now", "Start Download", or "Continue" and that ad may open a separate download.

Cancel or deny any automatic download

Some sites may automatically try start a download or give the appearance that something needs to be installed or updated before the site or video can be seen. Never accept or install anything from any site unless you know what is downloading.
