How Can I Fix - ASUS N56J Start menu swipe loads random app?

ASUS N56J Start menu swipe loads random app

Ever since I upgraded to Windows 8.1, which I am very fond of, I have found that when I swipe on the trackpad while on the Start menu or the Apps screen that a random app will load.
For example:

Swipe to the right with two fingers - cursor disappears while swiping
Touch the trackpad to navigate with the mouse
Start menu minimizes and a random app loads

Even if the cursor is not anywhere near an app, a random app still loads.
For some reason it MS Word more often than not.
Until I can figure this out Im having to use the scroll bars to move the Start and App screens.

This is on a brand new ASUS N56J notebook.
